A Narrow sliver of a plot in Boston’s Theater District was selected for the new Moxy Hotel. The specs called for twenty-five drilled shaft elements with three-, four-, and five-foot diameter shafts installed through soft clay and silt laden soils, till and bedrock. The tight schedule required two drill rigs and service equipment. The logistical challenge was formidable, especially because the historic Wilbur Theater had an easement through the job site for stage crews in the evenings. Good thing one of the site managers played a lot of Tetris back in college. Those shape fitting skills came in handy.
