Hub is currently completing the support of excavation (SOE) for the construction of the New Education and Research Building for the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. Hub worked closely with the general contractor, site contractor, and design team to develop a value-engineered SOE system consisting of about 14,000 square feet of temporary soil nail wall and drilled micropile soldier piles, lagging, and tiebacks. Heights of cuts range from about five to 25 feet. This value-engineered system will result in a substantial savings in both construction costs and schedule for the general contractor.
